eNL were out in force in their best frocks on Thursday 19th May to support eNL employee Penny Trotman with her bid to win the HR, Recruitment & Training category for Birmingham Young Professional of the Year 2011. The event was held at leading conference and banqueting venue the ICC based in Birmingham. The evening began with a drinks reception followed by welcome speeches and a three course meal. The awards ceremony was hosted by two professional athletes Derek Redmond and Katharine Merry who provided entertainment for guests, and were supported by Chair of Judges Glenn Howells of Glen Howells Architects. Damian Johnson, of Deutsche Bank was crowned the winner of the legal category, the winner of the financial services category was Emmet Keating who is principal at Catalyst Corporate Finance and the communications award went to head of strategy at Centro, Alex Burrows. The operations manager, Etta Parks at Graduate Advantage took the HR, Recruitment and Training crown, whilst Nicolas Holzherr won the entrepreneurial category. The awards ceremony concluded with the announcement of the overall winner of the Birmingham Young Professional of the Year 2011 which was the winner of the Property and Construction category Hilary Allen. After the acceptance speech guests were invited to the disco and the after party which went on until the early hours of the morning. Chief Executive of the NEC Group, Paul Thandi was awarded the Inspiring Leader Award in recognition of his business and leadership achievements in the City. Paul has shown exceptional commitment to Birmingham and is a very worthy winner of the title. eNL Operations Director Rebecca Mawdsley will be Chairman of the BYPY organising committee for 2012, everyone at eNL would like to wish her the best of luck to ensure BYPY '12 is the best yet!
