Job Description

Professional Indemnity Solicitor – Construction Disputes, 8+ PQE, London, £100,000–£130,000 DOE. Job Ref: 5869

You know your way around a complex claim. Now find a role where the disputes are interesting, the clients are impressive, and your expertise is worth its weight in legal costs. A Legal 500 Tier 1 team is looking for an experienced Professional Indemnity Solicitor to join its growing defendant Construction Insurance practice. Advising leading insurers, MGAs and Lloyd’s syndicates, you’ll handle high-value claims and coverage disputes where the detail matters, the stakes are high, and “let’s just see how it goes” isn’t much of a litigation strategy.

THE ROLE – BIG CLAIMS, SMART STRATEGIES:
This is your opportunity to take the lead on complex construction professional indemnity claims, defending architects, engineers, contractors and consultants when projects go wrong and the lawyers are called in. You’ll own matters from initial strategy through to resolution, delivering commercially astute advice and developing litigation strategies that do more than simply look good on paper. Working alongside colleagues across a national Insurance Disputes practice, you’ll enjoy exposure to sophisticated, high-value work, build strong relationships with an impressive client base, and help shape the continued growth of the team. There’s also scope to supervise and support junior fee earners. In other words, you’ll have the chance to share your expertise, without having to pretend every question from a junior lawyer is the first time you’ve ever heard it.

THE CANDIDATE – EXPERIENCE COUNTS:
You’ll be a Solicitor with 8+ years’ PQE and a strong background in professional indemnity law, gained in private practice or, ideally, within a major insurer or MGA.
You’ll bring:

• A proven track record of handling complex, high-value professional indemnity claims
• Excellent technical, analytical and commercial skills
• The confidence to manage your own caseload and advise sophisticated clients
• A strategic mindset and the ability to find practical solutions when matters become complicated
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A collaborative approach, with the ability to support junior colleagues and contribute to a growing team

You’ll be comfortable taking ownership, making sound commercial decisions and navigating disputes where the answer isn’t always hiding in paragraph 47 of the contract.

THE FIRM – A TIER 1 TEAM WITH ROOM TO GROW:
Join a highly regarded UK law firm known for its work on complex, high-value disputes and its commercially focused approach to client service.
Its Professional Indemnity practice holds a Legal 500 Tier 1 ranking, supported by a strong national presence across contentious Insurance and Construction law.
You’ll work alongside respected specialists on market-leading matters, with the opportunity to build your profile and make a genuine contribution to an ambitious, growing practice.

THE PACKAGE – MORE THAN JUST A GOOD DAY IN COURT:
Alongside a competitive salary of £100,000–£130,000 DOE, the package includes:

• Annual profit share award
• Generous pension, with salary sacrifice options
• Five weeks’ annual leave, with the option to buy or sell additional leave
• Enhanced family-forming pay
• Income protection and life assurance
• Confidential employee assistance programme

Because professional satisfaction matters, but so does having a life outside the litigation timetable.
