The Opportunity
A highly respected and long-established Worcestershire law firm is looking to appoint an experienced Head of Private Client to take responsibility for its successful Private Client team.
This is an excellent opportunity to step into a well-run department with a strong existing client base, an excellent reputation throughout the local community, and a substantial, well-managed caseload. The firm acts for a diverse range of high-net-worth individuals and families, including clients with complex and significant estates.

The Role
The appointed individual will take a leading role in managing and developing the Private Client department, advising on a comprehensive range of matters, including:
• Wills, trusts and estate planning
• Probate and estate administration
• Trust establishment and ongoing administration
• Lasting Powers of Attorney
• Court of Protection work
• Inheritance Tax planning
• High-value and complex estates
• Lifetime wealth management, preservation and succession planning
As a senior position within the firm, the role will involve more than fee-earning. The successful candidate will have significant influence over the future development and strategic direction of both the department and the wider business.

The Support
The successful candidate will inherit a strong operational structure and an experienced support team, including:
• Guidance and support from experienced partners
• An established and experienced Private Client assistant
• A dedicated secretary responsible for LPAs and associated work
• LEAP case management software
• Digital dictation facilities
• Access to external accountancy support for tax calculations when required
The department is already well organised and profitable, with a strong foundation in place and a smooth transition anticipated for the successful appointment.

The Candidate
The firm is open to applications from:
• Qualified Solicitors
• Chartered Legal Executives (FCILEx)
• Experienced Private Client lawyers with proven management or leadership experience

The ideal candidate will:
• Bring substantial experience across the full range of Private Client work
• Be confident in managing, leading and developing a department
• Have a genuine interest in building lasting client relationships
• Demonstrate commercial awareness and a proactive approach
• Be seeking a long-term move with clear opportunities for career development
• Have ambitions to progress towards partnership
• Long-Term Progression
This position offers genuine scope for long-term career development within the firm. The preference is for an individual who wants to build a lasting future with the business and play an important role in its continued growth.
For the right person, and subject to performance, contribution and cultural fit, there is the potential to progress towards partnership and, ultimately, equity participation.
