THE ROLE: Review content of the know how database to ensure it is up to date and that information is easily accessible to all legal staff. Train new starters on the use of the know how database and run refresher courses where necessary and establish the division's needs for standard form documents and practice notes. In conjunction with the current PSL and with information services, review legal and commercial journals and other external materials and extract information likely to be of significance to the division's lawyers and clients. Alert the division's lawyers to legal and sector developments in their specialist areas and assist and advise on particular legal issues and research of "non-routine" and complex legal issues arising from client work. In conjunction with the partner responsible for learning and development and with the existing PSL, identify suitable topics for the department's internal training programme and coordinate the programme arrangements, to include delivery where appropriate. Determine what internal and external training materials individual lawyers in the office hold and centralise this and assist the existing PSL in identifying and coordinating opportunities for external training.
