Edgbaston is home to a tempting array of places to eat and drink from Michelin-starred restaurants, cocktail lounges and Gastro Pubs through to lunchtime coffee and sandwich shops.
If money is no object then look no further than Simpson’s or The Edgbaston cocktail bar (both conveniently close to each other). The Edgbaston makes the best Espresso Martini in Birmingham and has a great outdoor seating area which we here at eNL have all had the pleasure of experiencing (on numerous occasions) this summer. Simpson’s is Michelin-starred restaurant and I would highly recommended this restaurant to anyone looking for quality food and service, they also have a fantastic al-a-carte vegetarian menu. If you fancy learning how to be a chef they have a cooking school where you can have a go at preparing some dishes.
The Highfield and Physician are both gastro pubs which are great for lunchtime meals or after work drinks, they’re both dog friendly, especially useful if, like us, you have an office dog.
For something a little different try El Borracho de Ora, Loki wine merchants and Deli or the Blue Piano bar. El Borracho is a Spanish tapas bar which serves sangria by the jug J, also Monday – Friday 5 – 7 pm they do 2 for 1 cocktails. The Blue Piano is north Indian food but they also have great live bands on. Loki, wine merchants and deli, this isn’t just a wine shop, you can also sample wines by the glass, you give your card in at the till and are given a card which you insert into the wine machine, this then decants a sample, small or large measure of the wine you choose, you pay at then end when you are finished.
If it’s a lunchtime sandwich you’re after then Sandwich Club, Village Kitchen, Costa Coffee and Morrison’s are all within easy walking distance. Sandwich Club do a chicken zinger wrap which goes down well with the Locum Ladies here at eNL. For me it has to be the fajita wrap from Village Kitchen and not a Friday goes by without Lesley making a the trip to luxury sandwich shop Philpotts for a TBE Salad Box for eNL’s MD Rebecca Smith. All in all, Edgbaston offers something for everyone – day and night!
